Birch necklace

Birches have spiritual importance in several religions, both modern and historical. In Celtic cultures, the birch symbolizes growth, renewal, stability, initiation and adaptability because it is highly adaptive and able to sustain harsh conditions with casual indifference.
The birch tree has a very special place in culture of Russia. It is a poetic symbol of the feminine, a lyrical image of spring, light and virginal purity. The slender birch brings to mind the image of a humble girl, beautiful, and very Russian.
I moved from Northern European climate to Mediterranean, and every time I visit Europe I find those unique trees and feel warm waves in my heart.

Inspired by nostalgia I created this necklace with all the good vibes I have for this tree.
Crocheted rope replicates the peculiar trunk of the tree, with specific black pattern on the white bark. Each one of characteristic leaves is different, like natural leaves, that are not equal. And, of course, the catkins (tree's flowers) - the inherent detail of the birch are on hand. The necklace closure is magnet clasp, hidden beneath one of the leaves. Perfect for each day wearing.
